Reluctantly Married by Victorine E. Lieske - Review (ARC)

Megan Holloway can't stand her local morning show co-host, Adam Warner, even though he's a total hunk. He goads her on-air until she says things she regrets. But since ratings increase each time they have an on-air fight, the producer encourages his behaviour.

When a relationship specialist comes onto the show purporting that Adam has hidden feelings for her, she reluctantly agrees to go out with him - on camera. What starts out as one date turns into a viral dating show with Megan and Adam alternating between locking lips and knocking heads.

As Megan fights her growing attraction to Adam, their popularity increases and ABC takes notice, offering them their own program. Not a morning show like Megan is hoping, but a dating show in which she and Adam must marry at the end. With the promise of a hundred thousand dollars and the possibility of scoring what she really wants, her own national program, she signs on.

What she doesn't know is that Adam has fallen in love with her, and his objective is to get her to do the same.

This was an incredibly short read. The premise suggested it would be a light, fun read - I just didn't really enjoy it and found it quite dull, boring and lacking a spark. There just was no spark from the book, no chemistry between the two Main Characters and without that, I just couldn't muster up any enthusiasm for this book.

The 'banter' between the two Main Characters wasn't as humorous or as flirty as I was expecting. The main heroine goes from hating the hero's guts to being attracted to him within minutes, all because she finds out he cares for a baby Koala. Yes, I can see how incredibly sweet that is, but the fact that the heroine changed her opinion about the hero so quick just made me go "Eurgh" and took away my enthusiasm for this book.

And then the whole 'fake' relationship specialist convincing the hero he's in love with the heroine within minutes was just bleurgh

This book was an incredibly short read with vomit-inducing cheesiness. I just didn't really care much for this book. I'm sure if I could have looked past the poorly written narratives, I would have maybe liked this book - but I think I liked the idea behind this book, more than the actual book. And besides, you can't really like a book, if you don't like the main characters as you don't really care what happens to them.

Meh. This book just made me feel meh. That's just my opinion though, others may enjoy it, it just wasn't for me.

Carrying His Secret by Marie Ferraella - Review (ARC)

Family secrets...

For years, Elizabeth Shelton kept her attraction to Whit Adair hidden. But when one explosive night with the gorgeous tycoon leaves her pregnant, it's not just her heart that's at risk. Because the Adair family have been targeted by a killer... and Elizabeth is next on their list. When Whit learns of the danger Elizabeth is in, he immediately whisks her away to his ranch, the only place where he can keep this beautiful, vulnerable woman safe. And, once he learns that Elizabeth is carrying his child, Whit knows that he'll defend their future... whatever it takes

This was an incredibly sweet, short read. I absolutely loved the simpleness of this book - no angst or unnecessary drama between the heroine and the hero.

After finding her boss dying on his office floor from a gunshot wound to the chest, Elizabeth is appalled to be dragged to the police station to be interrogated about how she came about finding Mr. Adair's body. They think she's a suspect behind the murder of her boss - that she was having an affair with him. That is far from the truth, it's damn laughable to Elizabeth. She's pregnant with the bosses' son - after one drink too many and a raging storm making them incapable of leaving their hotel, one thing leads to another, and results in a baby!

All Whit Adair wanted was his father's approval - he wanted his father to tell him how proud of him he was. But his father was murdered before he could his approval. When hearing that Elizabeth is being questioned in relation to his father's murder, he heads straight down to the police station to rescue Elizabeth.

Ever since that night, Whit has been avoiding Elizabeth - but he can't no longer. His father's murderer has Elizabeth in their sights, and is looking to create a double homicide. So, Elizabeth is staying with his family until they catch the killer - but the killer may be closer than they think...

The chemistry and love between these two was simply adorable - when Whit found out Elizabeth was pregnant, but didn't know the baby was his, you could literally see the jealousy pouring off of him.

Can I just say how much I hated his bitchy mother - I mean, how spoilt can an old lady get?! I was like, someone needs to bitch-slap you and take you down, not a couple of pegs, but how about a couple of freaking feet!

And that twist! Did not expect that. I thought it might have been the lost older brother, out of jealousy and bitterness!

Her Baby and Her Beau by Victoria Pade - Review (ARC)

A kid for a Camden?

Schoolteacher Kyla Gibson spends her days keeping kids in line, but it's not quite the same as having a family of her own. But when Kyla is named guardian to her newly orphaned infant goddaughter, she becomes an insta-mommy! Soon, though, she's in over her head and she's stunned when her SOS is answered by the last man she ever expected to seek.

Former marine Beau Camden is shocked to see Kyla again and with a baby! It's been fourteen years since their last night together, after which she went AWOL. But the time for odd grievances is past, and Kyla desperately needs his magic touch with little Immy. Can the soldier and his former sweetheart heal old hurts to create a future together, Camden style?

This book was a second-chance at love and was such an incredibly sweet book. I absolutely adored this book! This book was such a sweet, short book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Beau and Kula met when they were 16 one summer on Beau's Northbridge family ranch. They fell madly in love, but then Beau left to go back home and get ready for Annapolis to prepare him for the marines. Knowing that she'd be moving soon as her parents move often, Kula decided no contact after the summer was over. However, when their summer romance resulted in surprise, it was all Kyla could do to reach out to Beau. However, having an interfering great-grandfather resulted in Beau never knowing about the possibility of his child, and thinking he had called her degrading names and wasn't showing responsibility for his actions, Kyla began hating Beau.

I fell so hard for Beau in this book, he was just so incredibly sweet and adorable. A couple months out of the marines and Beau is having trouble adjusting to civilian life. Still stuck in the military mentality of schedules, regiments and 0500 hours time, Immy and Kyla are the much needed distraction he needs. He's also trying to make amends for how his great-grandfather treated Kyla's pregnancy. So when Kyla had no one left to turn to for help with raising a new baby and recuperating from an accident, Beau offers his help. Beau was just so loveable - he tries to get a schedule in order for Immy, but he's okay with going with the flow. He was just like a big teddy bear.

After visiting her one remaining relative to become godmother to her cousin's new born daughter, Kyla never expected a house fire to take Rachel away from her and leave her with 8-week old Immy and a booming truck stop business to care for. With an incredibly sprained wrist from where she jumped out of a window, Kyla reluctantly had to accept Beau's help for Immy's sake. However, Beau's all grown up, and she's still attracted to him. A completely connected to Kyla. She was a really likeable character. She found out the truth about Beau and what really happened 14 years ago, and she didn't dwell on it, she just moved on. She didn't hum and ha, wondering whether or not she should believe him. It was a refreshing change from all the other whiney heroines I've read in the past.

This was a Beau-tiful (see what I did there?! ;) ) short, sweet, lovely second-chance at romance book. I encourage you guys to get this - NOW!

Available - Fat Louise (Biker Bitches #2) by Jamie Begley

OMG Guys! The latest book in The Biker Bitch series is out by Jamie Begley. I absolutely adore this author and her series! Go get it out now...

She needed a hero; instead, she got Cade.

Cade was no hero. He was a nomad, a wanderer with no ties and he liked it that way. Hired out to save Fat Louis and her spoiled sister from a cartel run Mexican city was a risk he was willing to take, for the right price. With a certain grey eyed woman on his mind, he sets out to find her, fuck her and forget her. No harm, no foul. But it's all easier said that done when it comes to this plain Jane.

He expected a biker bitch who knew the rules; instead, he got Fat Louise.

Fat Louise wasn't about to put her crew in danger. She had to learn to handle problems on her own, even if they included a six-foot biker she was forced to rely on, if she was going to rescue her sister. She never expected to see Cade again after she'd left Mexico, but all it takes is one night with him to prove that even a bitch's heart can be broken.

Mind Games by Carolyn Crane - Review

Justine knows she's going to die. Any second now.

Justine Jones has a secret. A hardcore hypochondriac, she's convinced a blood is about to burst in her brain. Then, out of the blue, a startlingly-handsome man named Packard peers into Justine's soul and invites her to join his private crime-fighting team. It's a once-in-a-lifetime deal. With a little of Packard's hands-on training, Justine can weaponize her neurosis, turning it outward on Midcity's worst criminals, and finally get the freedom from fear she's always craved. End of problem.

Or is it?

In Midcity, a dashing Police Chief is fighting a unique breed of outlaw with more than human powers. And while Justine's first missions including one against a nymphomaniac husband-killer, are thrilling successes, there is more to Packard than meets the eye. Soon, while batting her attraction to two very different men, Justine is plunging deeper into a world of wizardry, eroticism, and cosmic secrets. With Packard's help, Justine has freed herself from her madness - only to discover a reality more frightening than anyone's worst fears.

I loved the beginning of this book. My e-book copy of the beginning is literally all highlighted! It was fresh, and different - something that I've never read before.

Justine, after growing up in a house full of hypochondriacs has developed hypochondria too, and seems to believe she has star-vein syndrome - that a blood vessel is going to burst in her brain and she's going to die, just like how her mother died. I loved Justine's neurosis, her hypochondriac theatricals made my laugh and smile - Cubby's disinterest specifically made me giggle.

'There are four stages my boyfriends - really, all my friends - go through: concern, ridicule, disdain, and finally flight. Cubby, I realize with a sick heart, has just graduated to disdain. I touch my head. Actually, the pinpoint sensation has lessened. The tingles linger, but yes, it could be anxiety.'

I loved how Justine interacted with her clients, how she zinged her hypochondriac fear into crazier, and I mean crazy in the sense of psychotic, people. However, Justine's insecurities and need for perfection with her boyfriend began grating on my nerves. Packard made a point of Cubby not accepting her for what she is, and I could see that. Justine strived so much for perfection that regardless of Cubby being unfaithful, she seemed to be able to forgive him - she only ended it because her neurosis made Cubby bitter. This made no sense to me.

Packard. Maybe it was just me but I didn't connect to him, not in the sense of a love interest. That could be because regardless of being in a relationship, Justine was fixated on any hot guy in her vicinity: she had a connection with this guy, and that guy, and this guy. I was just like really? I did love Packard. But he just didn't stand out for me. However, on the other hand Simon. Sigh. This guy made me swoon. This is why I think it might just be that wasn't all that keen on Packard - I wanted more Simon (think I have a slight bad-boy complex, yikes!)

I adored Carter, Hemlum and Shelby. This secondary characters were kick-ass!!! They were just simply amazing; they provided Justine with a sense of companionship and friendship she had never experience and it was just beautiful.

Now, Chief Otto Sanchez. I didn't understand Justine's obsession with this guy - she didn't know him personally at first (I should have really read the blurb better). He just seemed like another guy for her to have a connection with. I knew there would be something significant about him, but did not expect that twist. And after the hot-tub scene, I felt so sorry for Otto, so sad. His speech nearly brought tears to my ears. It was so poignant and beautiful.

If you're looking for a different type of Urban Fantasy book that usual, this is the book for you.

Meant for You by Samantha Chase - ARC Review

She dares to dream...
Summer Montgomery wants to be taken seriously almost as much as she wants her brother's best friend, Ethan. But with a long resume of seemingly random career choices and a protective brother on watch, those things are nothing more than pipe dreams...

Does he dare to try?
Ethan Reed would like nothing more than to live by his own rules. Not wanting to disappoint his best friend Zach, or any of the Montgomery's, Ethan's had to push his long-denied feelings for Summer aside. But it only takes one night away from watchful eyes to make impossible dreams come true...

This book was an incredibly light, nice and easy read. I loved the simpleness of this book. Yes, they had to contend with an older protective brother-best friend, but there was no unnecessary drama in this book - which is what I loved most about it. It was just a lovely book.

The prologue to this book, with Uncle William playing match maker, made me laugh and smile. It was simply adorable. He was playing Cupid and it was incredibly sweet.

"Summer is a free spirit; hell, my mother must have known at birth because she gave her the perfect name for her."

Zach's description of his sister summed Summer up to a T! She is a free spirit - however, Summer wants to be taken seriously. After having her heartbroken, Summer moves to the West Coast for space from her family, but also to prove to her family that she can be taken seriously. However, her older brother isn't convinced and wants her to leave.

Ethan has been Zach's best friend since they were tens year old. After not seeing Summer for many years, Ethan was pleasantly surprised to see her when she stepped off the elevator - Summer Montgomery was all grown up, and Ethan liked! However, not wanting to disappoint his best friend and his second family, Ethan knew he had to keep his feelings in check. I especially loved Ethan's loyalty and commitment to his best friend.

However, what happens when Zach sends Ethan to keep an eye on his sister who just upped-and-disappeared. One night away from prying eyes in a Spa retreat might be just the thing these two need to finally admit their feelings for each other.

But what happens when they have to go back to the real world? Will they hide the feelings and relationship or admit to it and deal with the consequences?

Overall, this was a sweet, lovely read that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

Oh, I also have an idea about the next book - Gabriella and Zach maybe? Big Corporate Boss and his Assistant? I like.

You Really Got Me by Erika Kelly - Review

The first irresistible novel in a hot new series about a rock star on his way up - and the woman he wants to take all the way...

Emmie Valencia has what it takes to be the music industry's hottest band manager. She just needs to prove it. Determined to discover a killer new band, Emmie is ready to make her move. First stop: Austin, Texas.

As a sizzling-hot lead singer, Slater Vaughn has no trouble raising heart rates - but his band's been flat-lining for years. When Emmie, his bandmate's sister, crashes with them in exchange for some free management, her industry know-how lands them a spot in the biggest music festival in Texas. But it isn't just her business acumen that catches Slater's attention. Emmie is sexy and warm, and - for the first time in his life - he wants more.

But as irresistible as Slater is, Emmie is done with musicians. In her experience, a man can't be a rock star and someone to trust with your heart - but Slater is determined to show her he's both.

MY SUMMARY:
Emmie is the PA for the biggest A&R in the music industry. However, Emmie wants more. She herself wants to work as an A&R - finding new music, singers and bands and signing them to their label. After eight years working for Irwin Ledger, Emmie is dissatisfied with getting his coffee, packing his suitcases, and finally draws the line at babysitting his daughter Caroline. After being pulled from the job of a life time, six weeks in Australia helping Irwin find new artist's to babysit his daughter, Emmie decides enough is enough. Irwin is never going to promote her, so she quits. They compromise - for the six weeks that Irwin is in Australia, Emmie has six weeks off from work. Emmie decides to put those six weeks to use - find a band for Irwin to sign, and then surely she'll get a promotion.

Slater Vaughn is the lead singer for the band Snatch, a rock and roll college band. Slater has managed to get every manager of their band to quit by being uncooperative and ignoring their ideas to help get them to the next level. However, Emmie's brother Derek is also in the band, and in exchange for living temporarily with the band, she'll manage them and use her connections to get the band to the next level.

This book was amazing and I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the chemistry between the main character's but also their determination to have successful careers.

I really connected to Emmie - her insecurities about not only her job but also her sexuality were very real to me. Emmie, after finding her boyfriend of three years cheating with not one but two groupies, has decided no more musicians. She couldn't count on her dad, a world-famous Jazz player, and couldn't count on a childhood-friend-turned-boyfriend rock star, she's decided to only date nice guys... So tired of being seen as plain and servicing, Emmie has decided to find her sexuality. This is what stumped me a bit. She wanted to be seen as sexy and wild, yet wants to date a nice guy? This just seemed like a waste of time in my opinion. And it seemed like Slater agreed with me.

Slater Vaughn. Sigh. I loved this guy, seriously. From the moment he meets Emmie I swear it was love at first sight - not that he would admit it. He loves this plain-Jane as is. Yes, he found her skinny dipping and trying new lingerie on sexy, what man wouldn't? But going on a date, wearing sexy clothes. Nope, this guy did not like. Not the sexy clothes (it wasn't her in his opinion) and definitely not the date. I absolutely loved how possessive this guy was over her! The fact he turned up on her date to claim his girl just made me swoon.

The sexual chemistry of these two was delicious! It was raw, dirty and also powerful. Like Slater said.

However, these two have their hang-ups. What with their uncertain career decisions, the worrying about failing, and worrying if they'll be enough.

Can I just say how much I hated Piper Lee!!!! Piper Lee is up there with Becca from The Avoiding Series, and Leah from Love Me With Lies. She is that bitchy, vindictive and plain evil! I hated Piper Lee with a passion and I can see where Emmie's insecurities about her came from. Piper  was musically gifted, so thus had more in common with Slater. And the fact she "took care of her guys". Er no, that's Emmie's job too! Eurgh, I just hated her!

If you're after a swoon-worthy guy and a normal, average girl - then this is the book for you!

Riding The Odds by Lynda K. Scott - ARC Review

An act of desperation and the beginning of seduction...

Spaceship captain Tara Rowan has her secrets. One is her Rider, Zie. Zie is an organic symbiote - like a living tattoo - that enhances Tara's physical abilities, including superhuman strength and reflexes. The other is the past she's tried so hard to leave behind her. But it's not until oh-so-sexy Trace Munroe decides to blackmail Tara that she realizes her secrets aren't so secret after all...
Trace is a Holy Knight who does everything by the book. Desperate to find a missing princess, he'll do whatever it takes to rescue her and bring her kidnappers to justice. Including blackmail. Yet something about the feisty ship captain draws Trace in and stirs his desire - even if she is a wanted criminal. Because the last thing he needs is any complications... especially when he has his own secrets to hide.

Within reading the first few pages of this book of this book I immediately fell in love with Zie. Zie is a Wild Rider bonded to Tara, both physically, mentally and emotionally. Zie gives Tara more strength and better fighting skills. Zie has a childlike nature about her, she brings a sense of innocence to this book, thus demonstrating a child-parent dynamic between Tara and Zie. Zie brought some much needed 'lightness' in an angst-ridden book - there's not a lot of angst, but there is a some.

The book begins with Tara winning a game of cards in a tavern in a Space Station. After taking her winnings she's about to leave the tavern, when she first spots Trace Munroe in a booth in the shadows across the way. Zie, noticing Trace too, comments on how "pretty" Trace is and how she wants to mate with him.

When Tara is first intoduced to Trace he tells her that he is a writer wanting to interview her about Trading for his new book that he is writing on. He promises to pay her for her time. Although needing the money, Tara declines his offer and leaves the Space Station on a job. Trace is actually the adopted son of The King, and is investigating the disappearance of his sister Katerina. Trace believes that Jack Brown, a guy from Tara's past, has kidnapped Katerina, and thinking Tara may be involved or could lead him to his sister, stows-away on her ship.

The relationship between Tara and Trace was both messy and sweet. Both have their secrets they want to keep hidden, yet neither can deny the attraction between the two of them. Trace is a Holy Knight, so knows Tara's real identity that she wishes to keep hidden. Trace uses this information, and his ownership of Tara's ship and control over her freedom, to blackmail her into helping to find his sister. Trace is unable to get past Tara's childhood; for 42 days her and a group of children were the only remaining survivors left of their planet Eridani due to the plague. Trace, and the rest of space, believe that Tara and her friends ate the younger children to survive - no one really knows the truth. Trace uses this as an excuse to keep his distance from Tara, intending to keep his focus on finding his sister. Helping out on Tara's ship, Tara sees a side of Trace she can admire, not knowing he is a HK, who she despises.

However, Trace has a problem with his memory - he takes String, which is a drug, to help him remember and make sense of things. However, Tara cannot have a druggie on her ship. She hates them. During this time Trace gets his own Rider, Bran. Zie recognises Bran as her bond mate, thus Trace and Tara are destined to belong together, regardless of circumstance.

After saving his sister, Trace loses all his memories and returns to his Kingdom. The book ends with Tara playing cards in the Space Station tavern with her friends. Trace opts in to play the game - not recognising anyone due to lack of memory. Zie and Bran are ecstatic to see each other, due to being bond mates. When Tara and Trace touch, Zie and Bran connect and Trace gets his memories of Tara back.

This book was a short, sweet love-story between a narrow-minded Knight, and an independent, strong Trader.

I'm not going to lie - this is my third attempt at reading this book. After reading Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampire Series I was hooked on Urban Fantasy and Paranormal, and everybody compared her series to this one. And I guess it took me so many attempts to read this one fully is because the beginning just didn't grip me. I'm not sure if it's because the world building wasn't explained well, or because I was just submerged in this world and was expected to know all about the Order, Guild, People, magic vs. tech, etc. Even on this attempt I couldn't get engrossed into the book until Curran and the Pack came about.

But man I'm glad I stuck around! I finally understand what all the hype is about, and am proud to admit I am fully submerged in the crazy recommendation hype that is the Kate Daniels series. I'll be recommending this book to anybody and everybody!

I soon got used to the lingo, the world, etc. I was hooked. And finished the rest of the book in one day. I wished I'd just stuck it out in the beginning as I would have read the rest of the series by now (which I'm going to do after posting this!) Yes, I'll admit I found the beginning of this book boring and dull, but after I got hooked, at about 30%, the book just moved forward fast-paced, full of action.

The moment where Kate goes to the Pack's keep was a real changer for me - the way she interacted with the Pack, Curran and the Pack Council was amazing! She didn't let anybody intimidate her, and she kicked some major ass! I am an official member of the Kate-Daniels-is-a-Badass-Club!

And Curran. I just loved him. His 'spying' on her date, and his and Kate's banter nearly made me wet myself through laughing - not that I did, 'cause that's just gross, and I ain't 4 years old. I am in absolute awe of Curran, and his whole alpha-lion thing he has going on. And can I just say that Ilona Andrews is freaking amazing - Lion's are my fave animals so brownie points there!

For me the epilogue of the book was perfect and I can't wait to begin reading the next book of the series! I have some theories going into the next book, about Kate and her parentage - can't wait to see if they're true!

So, guys this is a must read. I'm telling you! One-click guys! One click!

Falling Away (Fall Away #3) by Penelope Douglas - Review

Jaxon is the guy she's supposed to avoid.

K.C. is the girl he won't let get away...

K.C. Carter has always followed the rules - until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she's stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn't give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life - except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother's shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible...

Oh my God! This book. The feels.

I think this is the first book to ever give me mixed feelings about character's and their relationship...
I was convinced at one point that either the character's had bipolar, or I did. They would argue, then KABOOM! Fire. Passion. Chemistry.

Jax was an asshole. His MO was asshole, asshole, sweety-pie, asshole, asshole, etc. And yet, I fell in love with me? I was like, wait what? How is this possible? But I know how; because Penelope Douglas is a bad-ass!!! She created such a diverse, complex character in Jax and you had to deal with his jerky-side coming out once in a while, to get to the really good stuff underneath.

And K.C. (Or should I say Juliet?) What she went through with her childhood, how horrific and terrible. From what she went through, I don't understand how she wasn't more damaged. Jax pushed and pushed and pushed K.C. - pushed her to her limits. Until she finally found freedom and became herself - Juliet - not the ghost of someone else. She became stronger, independent, stuck up for herself, and I admired her for that. And I applaud Jax for pushing her.

I loved this twisted, fiery relationship. Loved how Jax wanted to be better and do better by Juliet. Loved how he spoiled her. Adored her. Oh, and I especially love their tattoos! The Wings, and Bite Marks/Juliet Quote from Romeo and Juliet.

However, there was just one thing that annoyed me about this book - nothing big or anything. It might just be me, but when Jax says "I'd cut my hair, stepped foot in an Abercrombie and Fitch, and made love for the first time." I was like, er, wait, what? Since when did you make love to Juliet? Did I miss that? 'Cause it just seemed that you screwed her, thoroughly! But, maybe that's just me.

Other than that, this book is a must read! I absolutely adored it - I got through it in just two days (71% in day one). So guys, get reading!

Favourite Quotes:

"God, baby... I missed you."

"Come here," he growled, and lifted me underneath my arms, holding me above him. I gasped, looking down at him and seeing the veins bulging on his neck.
He smiled, excitement flashing in his eyes as he stared up at me. "I fucking love you, baby."

Rome (Marked Men #3) by Jay Crownover - Review

Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she's never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has to plan to make sure that never happens again: She's only going to fall in love with someone perfect.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He's stubborn and rigid, he's bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome's used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he's just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer i alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.

Perfect isn't on the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever.

This book is by far my favorite of the series. I loved Cora, loved Rome - loved everything there is that makes this book so freaking good! The book starts at a family barbecue on the 4th July; Rome is acting surly and lowering the mood of the get together. Cora, loving her friends dearly, takes matters into her own hands and calls Rome out on his behavior. She then proceeds to pour her can of beer over his head. Thus begins the start of this fiery relationship.

I loved the banter and humor in this book - the cute little nicknames they had for each other were adorable and endearing. I found I could relate to Cora more than the previous heroines (Shaw and Ayden); she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. and was slightly rude and brash. The previous heroines had a certain re-fineness that I just couldn't relate to.

I absolutely adored Rome; the way he never wavered in his feelings towards Cora, regardless of her hesitation and his hurt, just made me love him even more. I love a tattooed bad boy, don't get me wrong, but Rome's dependability and support towards Cora was not only admirable, but a welcome change. Yes, I know he had a little wobble but he had his reasons for it. And also the way he took charge with his nightmares and possibly having PTSD was again admirable. I could definitely see home Rome was a soldier.

What a book to start the New Year off with! I seriously recommend reading this entire series. I just have to wait (impatiently I might add) for April when Asa and Royal's book comes out. April can't come quick enough. Oh, and here's to hoping that Sayer and Seb get their own book - it sure looks like it's heading that way.

Favourite Quotes:

"There was nothing quite like being put in the friend zone by your pregnant girlfriend."

"Look at our baby... I passed out a few hours ago and rolled over on my stomach, which sucks when you aren't there to act as a pillow, by the way, when this woke me up. I've never had a belly in my life and now I do and there is a supersmall person in there. It's unbelievable."
