Bad Judgment by Meghan March - Teaser Blast

He’s so arrogant.

She’s so self-righteous.

I can’t stand him.

I want her.

He’s a distraction I don’t need.

She’ll say yes eventually because I’m not giving up.

Justine Porter is stuck between a rock and a stripper pole. She lost her law school scholarship, which means she has two choices to keep her life on track: strip for her tuition or tutor the most distractingly sexy guy in her class—the one she’s been turning down for two years straight. It should be an easy choice, but tutoring Ryker Grant could derail her plans to graduate with honors faster than two-for-one night at the Déjà Vu. Then again, topless has never really been her color.
She could take the easy road, just this once . . . but the deal has enough loopholes to trip anyone up.
Who knew they taught bad judgment in law school?

Stacking my Shelves Saturday

This is a new weekly post I'll be starting from today. It'll list five books that I plan to buy/read during this week (from this Saturday to next Saturday) whether it's a book or a Kindle ebook.

Without further ado...

House Immortal (House Immortal #1) by Devon Monk

Bittersweet by Sarina Bowen - Review

The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the
tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.

This book is by far my favourite book of Sarina's. It's also my favourite book I've read this year. It's simply amazing. I adore this book. I adore the characters. I adore the secondary characters. There's just no words to describe how much I love this book!

Audrey was just a fun, spunky character. I adore her. She's my fave kind of heroine. Sassy but vulnerable at the same time. I loved everything about Audrey. She's the kind of girl I could be best friend's with.

I simply love Grumpy Griff. Griffin Shipley has been running his family's farm for the last few years since his father's passing. He looks after his siblings, his mother, grandfather, the farm, with little time for himself. Until Audrey re-enters his life.

Audrey and Griff had a little college fling a few years before the book begins; Griff wanted more, but Audrey never got back in touch for her own valid reasons. After failing out of two colleges, Audrey has finally found her calling; after successfully completing culinary school, Audrey has dreams of opening her own restaurant and the company she now works for is the only way for her dreams to become reality. However, the company make Audrey jump through hoops; such as acquiring Organic food from Vermont farmers at a cheap rate. Griff decides that although he and Audrey have amazing chemistry, he can't in good conscience let himself and his fellow neighbouring farmers be ripped off.

Thus starts a battle of the foodies.

I absolutely adored these two together; I loved their chemistry, their shared appreciation of food, family and love. I loved the secondary characters. There is nothing in this book I didn't love.

This book is simply amazing and is a must read!

Excerpt:
Franka
“You need to leave,” I declared.

His brows drew together a moment before his expression showed clearly that comprehension had dawned.

Sadly, comprehension might have dawned but he didn’t leave.

He crouched by the bed and offered in a soft voice, “You need me to carry you to the other room so you can have a bit of privacy?”

Dear goddess.

He thought I needed a chamber pot.

But…

What was happening to my face?

Dear goddess!

The heat I felt in my cheeks could be nothing other than me blushing.

I didn’t blush. I’d never blushed. Not even when I’d set about seducing my first lover at age sixteen.

I needed to be quit of this man as soon as possible.

“No…I…do…not,” I bit out.

“Sure?” he asked kindly.

“I need you to leave, Noctorno,” I used his full name in an effort to irritate, something that worked if the flare in his eyes was any indication, “so Josette can prepare me. We’re away to Kristian’s this morning.”

Another drawing of his brows before he asked, “What?”

“After my toilette, Josette and I are to my sleigh so we can begin our journey to my brother’s home."

His eyes got bigger as his mouth inquired peculiarly, “Are you high?”

“No,” I answered his ridiculous question unnecessarily, “Indeed, I’m low. As you can see since I’m lying abed.”

For a second he just stared at me.

Then he threw his head back and burst into loud, deep, beautiful laughter.

I wanted to throw something at him.

Unfortunately, in my current position, this was not an option open to me.

“I fail to see what’s amusing,” I noted.

He controlled his mirth only to mutter, “I’ll explain it later.” He went on more distinctly, “Frannie, you’re not goin’ to your brother’s today. Or tomorrow. Or until you’re fit. Then, maybe Valentine will spirit you there, or whatever the fuck that’s called. But for the foreseeable future, your ass is in that bed and you’re resting so you can heal.”

Well!

Who did he think he was, telling me what I would or would not do?

“As you’ve determined,” I began, “this is not the first time I’ve been in this condition so I do believe that I know best what I’m capable of and…”

I stopped speaking because he came slightly out of his crouch so he could put his face into my face and he was no longer looking mirthful.

He was looking angry.

Very angry.

“That was when you had no one lookin’ out for you but that’s not the case anymore. So this is how it’s gonna be,” he announced.

He then, to my shock, irritation and outrage, announced how it was going to be.

Like he had the right to tell me how it was going to be!

And Don’t Miss the First Books in the Fantasyland Series-On Sale Now!

About Kristen Ashley:

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Excerpt:
Now tell me what’s up with you.” Melanie pointed a finger at Damien.

He leaned back in his chair. “Can’t get anything past you, can I?”

“Nope. Let’s have it.”

“Okay.” Taking a deep breath, he lifted his eyes to meet hers. “Completely random hypothetical question.”

“Sure, Damien,” she replied in a “yeah right!” voice. His questions were never random or hypothetical.

“Have you ever had to sacrifice your happiness for a greater good?”

Touching her chin, she tilted her head to the ceiling. “I can’t say that I’ve had the opportunity.”

He leaned forward and whispered, “Would you?”

Her eyes snapped back to his.

His voice was controlled. Calm. But the intensity that sparked from those brown eyes seemed anything but calm. Pressure weighed on her chest. She had a feeling the wrong answer could have dire consequences.

“I guess … I would. Like in Armageddon. When Bruce Willis’s character sacrificed his life so that his daughter’s fiancé didn’t have to detonate the bomb.”

Damien nodded. His body didn’t relax. If anything, it became rigid.

A feeling of dread rushed through her veins. She’d given the wrong answer. “Tell me what’s wrong.”

He dug into his pocket, took a ring from a small box, and pressed it into her hand. She immediately clasped it, too afraid to look. The ring cut into her palm, a taunting and painful warning of the hurt that waited ahead. Reluctantly, she opened her fingers, revealing the most audacious, too-shiny, too-bright, gaudy ring.

“I’m going to ask Vanessa to marry me.” “You’re marrying V-Vanessa?” Melanie’s eyes darted between Damien and the offending object in her hand.

Despite the coolness from the ring, a pool of liquid heated at the base of her stomach. Pressure built. Not slow, but fast. Supersonic fast. The pressure rushed up and seeped through long, jagged cracks that had formed across her chest.

She tossed the ring onto the table like dice. Rolling and spinning, the silver band toppled in front of Damien. “I didn’t know that … ” She cleared the large achy clump that blocked her throat. “I didn’t know that you and Vanessa were serious. Or engaged, for that matter. Oh, wait, that’s not right. You couldn’t be engaged because you haven’t asked her yet. But I didn’t know … didn’t realize you were serious about her.” She was babbling but couldn’t stop herself. Either ramble like a lunatic or cry like one.

Author Bio:
Rina Gray is one of the newest African American romance writers on the rise. She is also a digital
marketing professional who discovered her love of writing in 2012. Writing has always been Rina’s passion, though initially, she tried to deny it. In college she served as the copy editor for the entertainment magazine and newspaper. During her tenure, she had the opportunity to interview various talented entertainers including Chris Rock and the cast from Reno-911.

Rina has always been an avid reader, sneaking to read her mother’s books she had no business reading i.e. Stephen King’s The Stand, It, and Anne Rice’s various vampire series. As a pre-teen, she received a load of romance novels from a family friend and from that point on, she devoured any book related to romance or horror.

When she’s not writing, she can be found with her head stuck in a book, kickboxing, or dominating game night with friends and family. Rina resides in Atlanta with her husband.

Twirled Bond by Emma Hart - ARC Review (21/7/16)

If I thought Holly Woods was crazy before, I was wrong.

Devin is finally married. Nonna's on the wedding warpath. Drake might be getting ideas. His mom just dropped a bombshell, and Bek is caught between a hot as hell FBI agent and my super-sweet little brother.

And I still don't have the shoe closet Drake promised me when he moved in six months ago.

At least there's one positive: the old, abandoned Holly Woods Theater is about to reopen, and there's nothing like a theater opening to bring people together... And make crazy grandmothers forget proposal agendas.

Until that theater comes with a dead body. A very, very, very dead body.

Chaos is coming to town.

Everything I've ever known about Holly Woods might just be about to change.

This book is by far my favourite of the entire series! Over the series we've seen Noelle mature and grow up, and this book proves just how much she's changed and grown as a person when compared to the first book. Sure, Noelle is still a sarcastic, bad-ass, wonder-woman like figure, but she's also more tame and calmed down. Not rushing to the next big dangerous mission. It was refreshing.

I've always loved Drake Nash. He's just beautiful, inside and out! I love his relationship with Noelle, but also her family who he sees as his own, especially her father. When Drake received that horrible news, and finally found out why his father abandoned him all them years ago, it was touching to see him turn to Noelle's father, the man he sees as his father!

This book focused more on Droelle as a couple and dealing with family issues and nosy Nonna's. Family is at the centre of this book - not murder or plots. Although it is there, I feel that compared to the other books it wasn't the main focus and Noelle finally didn't put herself in danger going after the criminal.

Like I said before, this is my fave of the entire series. A must-read book and series.
