Silver Bastard by Joanna Wylde - Review

First in the new Silver Valley series from the New York Timesbestselling author of the Reapers Motorcycle Club Novels

Fourteen months. For fourteen months, Puck Redhouse sat in a cell and kept his mouth shut, protecting the Silver Bastards MC from their enemies. Then he was free and it was time for his reward—full membership in the club, along with a party to celebrate. That’s when he saw Becca Jones for the first time and set everything in motion. Before the night ended he’d violated his parole and stolen her away from everything she knew.

Five years. It was five years ago that Puck destroyed Becca and saved her all in one night. She’s been terrified of him ever since, but she’s even more terrified of the monsters he still protects her from... But Becca refuses to let fear control her. She’s living her life and moving forward, until she gets a phone call from the past she can't ignore. She has to go back, and there’s only one man she can trust to go with her—the ex-con biker who rescued her once before.

Puck will help her again, but this time it’ll be on his terms. No more lies, no more tears, and no more holding back what he really wants...

So it's no surprise to anyone how much I love Joanna Wylde and her Reapers MC series. I was eagerly anticipating this book and counting down the days till I could get my hands on this book.

I absolutely love Puck. I became intrigued by him in Reaper's Stand and this story picks up from his release from Prison following the events in Reaper's Stand. I always thought Puck was cold, and even though we saw himself softening in this book to Becca, he still always felt a bit stand-offish to me.

I loved Becca. She was kick-ass and incredibly strong considering everything she went through. That diner scene in the beginning of the book with the coffee pot was just bad-ass. Becca is a BAMF. No doubt about it. And how she made her apartment a home through sewing her own curtains, toss pillows, etc. was amazing and heartfelt. It was super duper sweet.

I loved these two together - these two had been on the edges of each other's lives for the last five years, and could no longer deny their feelings for each other.

This book was fast-paced. It was amazing. And the love between these two was adorable. I especially loved seeing Picnic and London (love these two) and the sneak peek we got to see of Painter and Melanie's story.

I loved the little epilogue we got at their house with their family - it was simply adorable and sweet.

I also loved the extra-epilogue with Shane and Piper. I cannot wait for their book next year - it is going to be kick-ass. His mafia friend is a BAMF - is he also getting his own story? Please say yes!

Can't you tell just how much I loved this book? This is an amazing book and you guys NEED to read this!

The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen - ARC Review

The girl who’s had everyone meets the boy who has no one.

For Bella, the sweet-talking, free-loving, hip-checking student manager of the Harkness men’s hockey team, sex is a second language. She’s used to being fluent where others stutter, and the things people say behind her back don’t (often) bother her. So she can’t understand why her smoking hot downstairs neighbour has so much trouble staying friends after their spontaneous night together. She knows better than to worry about it, but there’s something in those espresso eyes that makes her second guess herself.

Rafe is appalled with himself for losing his virginity in a drunken hookup. His strict Catholic upbringing always emphasised loving thy neighbour—but not with a bottle of wine and a box of condoms. The result is an Ivy League bout of awkwardness. But when Bella is levelled by a little bad luck and a downright sinister fraternity stunt, it’s Rafe who is there to pick up the pieces.

Bella doesn’t want Rafe's help, and she’s through with men. Too bad the undeniable spark that crackles between the two of them just can't be extinguished.

So after joining The Locker Room Group on facebook I came across Sarina Bowen's Ivy Series and devoured them. I absolutely loved them. So when I was given an ARC for The Shameless Hour I was incredibly excited and stoked - squealing may or may not have been involved.

I absolutely loved this book. I loved how we had a virgin-hero, and a 'promiscious' heroine. The switch-up was refreshing and a welcome change. Bella wasn't ashamed of herself and her enjoyment of sex which was refreshing compared to some NA blushing virgins we read about. And Rafe, the virgin-hero was just adorable - he didn't do no-strings, he preferred being in committed relationships due to his upbringing.

However, circumstances pull these two together and they have sex. No-strings sex. And Rafe is mortified and embarrassed of his behaviour, thus acts hideously in the morning.

After contracting an STI from a frat-boy, Bella is humiliated, and its put all over the internet. Completely humiliated she drops her position as the assistant hockey coach and starts skipping classes. Rafe, sharing a class, starts pulling Bella out of her funk.

I loved the relationship between these two. They slept together not really knowing each other, but then slowly became friends. The friends-to-lovers was adorable. Bella has sworn off men, but can't help but notice Rafe. And Rafe only has eyes for Bella.

This book was such an incredibly sweet, adorable read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and am so grateful that I was gifted an ARC.

“The Longnecks—they’re the MC my stepdad hung around with—they kept a lot of club whores around. Do the Silver Bastards do that, too?”
“Yup,” she replied. “It’s a free country and the brothers bring guests here all the time. Some of them stick around, some of them don’t. Some find they aren’t as welcome as they thought.”
“Doesn’t that bother you?”
“Boonie’s dick is the only one that matters to me,” she replied, her voice matter-of-fact. “As for the women, I care less about who they’re sleeping with than how they act the rest of the time. Like I said, fuck with the sisters and you won’t last. Bridget won’t be back if she keeps this shit up.”
“Old ladies didn’t get to make those decisions in the Long- necks.”
Darcy smiled sweetly. “We don’t get to make those decisions in the Silver Bastards, either. Yet the right decisions still magically happen. Nobody knows how, really. Guess it’s just all our good karma coming back to us.”
My mouth dropped. Darcy winked.
“You think those men don’t need us?” she asked. “Boonie likes sleeping next to me. Gets cold and lonely when all the old ladies take a girls’ weekend in Seattle. Would be even colder and lonelier if we didn’t come back, and one time we forgot to for nearly a week. Fortunately things worked out and we found our way home again. Now things tend to work out faster.”
My eyes went wide.
“You serious?”
“Do I look like a woman who will eat shit?”
Point taken.
“Let’s get this trash out. I’m sure Puck will be looking for you  soon, and I want to make sure all the girls meet you first. That boy’s crazy about you—it’s cute. Like a pit bull crushing on a kitten.”

Excerpt: The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen

I heard the band start to play the classic one-two Merengue rhythm that I’d heard my whole life. On the dance floor, the energy picked up as the geezers began to move to the faster beat.

“Let’s go,” I said, standing up. I offered Bella my hand.

But Bella shook her head. Even worse, she scooted her chair toward the wall.

“Don’t leave me hanging,” I said, my hand still waiting in the air.

“Come on now. Nobody puts Bella in a corner.”

On the other side of the table, Bella’s sister snorted into her white wine.

Bella rolled her eyes. Hard. “You did not just quote Dirty Dancing.”

I leaned down near Bella’s ear. “I did. Now get your ass out of that chair, like the girl in the movie, or I’ll have to put you in a fireman’s hold.”

Her mouth tight, Bella stood up. Not one to waste an opportunity, I clasped her hand, tugging her onto the dance floor. When we were right in the center, I put one hand onto Bella’s waist and took her opposite hand in mine. She was as stiff as a piece of wood. “Shake it off, chica. This is supposed to be fun.”

“Your job tonight was to make my life less embarrassing. Not more.”

“I am doing that. We’re going to be the best looking dancers on this floor, and everyone in this mausoleum is going to wonder how I got so lucky as to be here with you. Now listen to this rhythm, okay? Just step to the beat. And let your hips absorb the motion.” I began to move to the music. The merengue is a Dominican dance, and every kid in my neighbourhood can merengue before his fifth birthday. It’s just not that complicated.

With nervous eyes, Bella began to move.

“Use these hips,” I prompted, touching the silky fabric of her dress. As I watched, she loosened up a tiny fraction. “Yes! But even more. You look great. I wouldn’t steer you wrong. And think of pressing the balls of your feet into the floor.”

Biting her lip, Bella moved with me.

“That’s it! See? Nothing to it.” Just like that, we had a proper merengue going on.

“Can I sit down yet?” Bella asked.

“Not even close,” I laughed. “See, I knew you could move.”

Bella pouted. “We’ve seen each other’s moves, Rafe.”

She lifted her eyes, and the heat in them went straight to my dick.

Jesucristo. That was the trouble with getting so close to Bella. I was always going to be susceptible to her. Anything she did to remind me of that night was always going to knock me right over.

“Ha.” She said. “I finally found a way to shut you up.” Bella put a little more effort into her
merengue then, looking smug.

Deep by Kylie Scott - BLOG TOUR and Release Day

Excerpt:
“C’mon. How have you been, really? What’s been going on with you?” he pushed. I frowned at him and he frowned right back. “Liz, please.”
I groaned in defeat. “All right, I suck.”
“Why do you suck?”
“So very many reasons.” I pushed my hair back from my face—no more hiding. “Pregnancy sucks. It’s natural, my ass. I finally stop throwing up, but I’m tired all the time. Giving up coffee was horrendous. None of my clothes fit right because of these stupid breasts, and they ache constantly. I have to pee like every thirty seconds, and then to top it off, I cry every time the Healthy Hound ad comes on. It’s ridiculous”
Little wrinkles appeared either side of his nose. “You cry at a dog food ad?”
“Yes. The puppies jump all over each other to get to their mother and it’s just so beautiful, with their cute little tails wagging and everything.”
He just stared at me.
“I know its psycho, Ben. Believe me, I’m well aware of this.”
“Hey, it’s fine.” He covered a smile with his hand. Too late, the bastard.
“You try dealing with all these hormones going apeshit. Crap. Apeshoot.”
“Apeshoot?”
“I’m trying not to swear,” I explained. “You want the first word our child comes out with to be something bad?”
“No. Gotcha.” The man was incredibly bad at hiding a grin. “No swearing.”

A Perfect Ten by Linda Kage - Release Day, Blog Tour and Review

Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I know I've closed myself off in a major way over the past year, ever since “the incident” where I messed up my life completely. It's past time I try to live again or just give up altogether. But this is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever done. In a last ditch effort to invigorate myself, I'm standing outside Oren Tenning's bedroom, I just peeled off the sexiest pair of underwear I own, and my hand is already raised to knock. My brother would disown me for doing anything with his best friend, and he'd probably kill Oren. But if I play my cards right, no one will ever know about this. Not even Ten.

Maybe after tonight, I’ll finally get over this stupid, irrational crush I hate having on the biggest jerk I’ve ever met. Or maybe I’ll just end up falling for him even harder. Maybe I’ll discover there’s so much more to my crude, carefree hunk than meets the eye.

So, after reading Quinn's story, Oren stole my heart. He's just perfect in his ass-holey way.

I loved this book - it was amazing. I loved the whole forbidden best friend's sister angle. I loved Oren. And I loved Caroline. What she went through was incredibly heartbreaking, but she bounced back and was determined to go after what she wanted.

Ten is the MVP of this entire series. He's an asshole no doubt, but he's also incredibly sweet, and loyal. I fell deeply in love with Ten in the previous book, and this one just cemented it for me. After reading what happened to his twin sister, it absolutely broke my heart.

And Linda Kage. That twist near the end made my heart drop out of my chest. I swore I stopped breathing for a second there.

However, that epilogue was perfection - what a way to end that book. Seeing what everybody was up to in the future. It was simply beautiful.

This series is one of my fave series ever and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Deep by Kylie Scott - Pre-Release Blitz

Excerpt:
“Where have you been?” My sister rushed forward, catching me up in a tight hug. “I’ve been trying to call you all day. We checked everywhere and couldn’t find you.”
“Sorry. I just needed some alone time.” I squeezed her back, unable to stop from smiling. The thought of Anne turning her back on me had scared me more than I liked to admit.
“Well, I get you might want that.” She stepped back. “But you could have told someone.”
“You can’t just disappear like that.” And Ben kept right on frowning. “Shit, Liz, you’re pregnant.”
“Don’t upset her,” snapped Anne.
Ben ignored her. “I don’t know what the hell’s going on in your head. But you need to let me know where you are.”
My eyebrows went up and my mouth opened, ready to rip him a new one.
“She doesn’t answer to you. She’ll let you know if and when she decides to let you know,” said Mal, laying down the law to his bandmate before turning my way. “You will text your sister next time you decide to go wandering for a day, understood?”
My mouth, it still hung open.
“Christ, man.” Over and over, Ben’s hands rolled into tight fists before releasing again. “Can you cut the shit and get off my back for a fucking minute?”
“Don’t swear at him.” My usually sensible and staid sister poked a finger dead center in Ben’s broad chest. “You’re the one that caused this mess, thank you very much. She might still be a little young and naive, but you’re definitely old enough to know better.”
“That’s right.” Standing about as tall as a skyscraper, despite only coming up to Ben’s nose, Mal stared him down. Or up. Whatever. “This is a family matter. You can leave, thanks.”
